KS4 ICT
Key Stage 4
We currently offer two courses to Key Stage 4 students.

GCSE ICT
This is taught during normal timetabled lessons and is examined by OCR. The assessment for this course is split between coursework (60%) and exam work (40%). In Year 10 the students complete two minor projects each worth 25% of the coursework mark. The major project, worth the remaining 50%, is completed in Year 11.

There are two exams in ICT which are taken at the end of Year 11.

Further information is available on the website http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/GCSEICTA.html

DIDA
The DiDA course is offered after normal school hours (currently Monday evenings) and is examined by Edexcel. The exam board sets a number of Student Project Briefs (SPBs) each year. Students that complete one of them get an AiDA (equivalent to 1 GCSE) those that complete 2 get awarded a CiDA (equivalent to 2 GCSEs) and those that complete all 4 of the units currently offered are awarded the full DiDA qualification (worth 4 GCSE). There is currently no award for those that complete 3.

SPB1 is compulsory and consists of a range of common tasks such word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc. This unit is covered in Year 10 The other SPBs are not compulsory and include a variety of different tasks such as graphics, video and website production. Further information is available at the DiDA home page The assessment is all based on a student’s coursework and leads to a GNVQ which is the equivalent of one, two or four GCSEs (depending on how many units the student completes) http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/
