Business Studies and Economics Department
Business Studies
“Studying business and economics has greatly enhanced my understanding of history and life – everything from the war in Iraq to the novels of Jane Austen."  - student comment

This expanding Department is currently offering a wide range of economics and business studies courses from Key Stage 4 onwards, varying from the traditional academic to the modern vocational and including the new Applied GCE in Business Studies.

We are proud of our consistently strong results, the range of courses we offer and the special praise we have received in recent OFSTED reports.

The school has been very successful in developing close links with the business community over a number of years. A number of educationally worthwhile events have been organised by the Business and Economics Department. These included:
.
.
Year 8: ‘Take Your Son to Work Day’, in which the majority of the year experienced their first taste of the ‘world of work’.

Year 9: ‘Insight into Industry’ morning, which involved KS3 students working closely with representatives from businesses and local organisations.

Year 10: ‘Insight into Employability’ morning, which featured a series of workshops that KS4 boys attended with the aim of preparing them for their own forthcoming work experience, and generally focusing them on assessing their own employability.

None of these could have been achieved without the support and dedication of the long-term ‘Partners to the Business and Community Partnership’ and the interest shown by local businesses recruited over the last year. The School expresses its thanks to: HSBC, Barclays Bank, London Transport, Spring Education, Zierler Media, The Metropolitan Police, The Royal Free Hospital, The Outdoor Education Company, Oxfam, Barnado’s and Prudential.
