Modern Foreign Languages - Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3
All boys study French and either German or Spanish with three periods of each language over the two-week timetable in year 7 and then three or four periods per language in years 8 and 9. Langauges in Key Stage 3 are taught on an alternating basis, with French and German on year, French and Spanish the next, and so on.

Teaching is mixed ability in Year 7 only. At the end of year 7 boys are split into six groups according to their ability. These sets are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that boys are always in the most appropriate teaching and learning environment.

Year 7 Languages Awareness
Throughout year 7 boys follow a programme of lessons to support the KS2 to KS3 transition and to help them to develop the necessary skills for language learning.

Mandarin at KS3
All boys are offered the opportunity to learn Chinese Mandarin during a lunchtime club.

Please click on the links on the left for information about each langauge area. You will find links to our class pages on each topic.
