Support Available to Pupils
The school endeavours to support all of our students through a variety of means. We have a strong pastoral support system broken down into three main key stages. You can find out more information about our pastoral system by clicking on the link in the navigation bar above.
We also support our students in their learning through the use of a number of different projects. Details on all of these can be found by following the relevant links on the left navigation bar.
Connexions is a national support service providing information, advice and guidance to all young people aged 13–19 (up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities).
Students at William Ellis School can meet privately with the school-based Connexions Personal Adviser who will offer impartial and practical advice on a range of issues including: education; training; jobs; money; relationships and lifestyle. The range of advice, guidance and support given to young people will vary according to their need but the overall aim will be to reduce any ‘barriers to learning’ that may be hindering their education and to ensure that they have a smooth transition to their further education, training or employment. The Connexions Personal Adviser may refer young people to other more appropriate agencies, if necessary.
In addition, all young people have the opportunity of a careers interview from a Connexions Personal Adviser, who specialises in delivering career guidance, to inform their option/career choice.
Young people may get in touch with the Connexions Personal Adviser by going to the Connexions Office, based in the school library, or they may be referred by their parent/ carer or a member of staff.
