WES Student Contract
William Ellis School is a community with its own institution, practices and codes, but which is nonetheless heavily dependent on parental support. While we do try to treat every boy as an individual, we have also to be conscious of the needs of everyone else and of our wider obligations to society, and we ask all parents to sign this form confirming their acceptance of the principles and rules set out in the Prospectus and Parents Handbook.
CONTRACT OF ACCEPTANCE
ADDRESS
I confirm that the address stated on my son’s application to William Ellis School is the home at which he normally resides.
CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOUR
I have read the Governors’ ‘General Statement on Discipline’ in the Prospectus and agree to support the school in seeking to maintain these principles. I note the school policy on rewards and punishments and that he may, on occasion, be detained after school. Verbal or written notice to the student will be given 24 hours in advance for all but the shortest detentions.
DRESS AND APPEARANCE
I have received and read the requirements for school uniform, and undertake to send my son to school dressed accordingly and with the equipment required for the day’s lessons. I understand uniform will only be changed after written notice well in advance.
HOMEWORK
I will take all steps reasonably open to me to ensure that my son completes homework regularly and on time and to support school staff in promoting as high a level of achievement as possible for him.
PUNCTUALITY AND ATTENDANCE
- I am aware of the legal requirement for regular attendance at school, and undertake not to keep my son at home unless he is unwell.
- I will support the school’s aim for each boy to attend at least 95% of school sessions unless there is a chronic medical condition now notified to the school.
- I will telephone or send a note to explain any short-term absence.
- I understand that the law provides that only for good cause can the school agree to pupils taking holidays during the school terms, subject to a maximum of two weeks in any one year.
WITHDRAWAL
Should I at any time wish to withdraw my son’s application, I will give written notice as early as possible to avoid cost or inconvenience to other families.
I accept the place offered to my son at William Ellis School and agree to abide by the school policy as stated above.
