World Karate Champion
Jay Kirton, in 9DNA, has achieved the status of European and World karate Champion! Competing in the 13-15 age group, Jay travelled to October 7th 2006, Rotterdam, Holland where he succeeded in reaching, and then winning the final. On winning, Jay said “I felt like I wanted to faint”. In 2005, he travelled to Dallas, Texas, where he was crowned world champion and became UK champion at the start of 2006. Jay is currently a green belt at Karate, and is aiming for his brown belt in the next few weeks.
Jay, who has attended three Karate clubs at Highbury, Barnsbury and Enfield since he was 10 said “I will try to get in the England Regional team”. When asked about London Olympics 2012, he hopes that karate will become an Olympic sport by then, so that he has the chance to compete for Great Britain.
